Farmhouse breakfast

Thanks to our Health Council, we took part in Farmhouse Breakfast Week - 22nd to the 26th January 2007. The campaign has been running for eight years and aims to highlight the importance of breakfast and the range and quality of regional breakfast produce available in the UK.

Activities in school included creating menus, cookery, obtaining information from a variety of sources and keeping a breakfast diary.  At the end of the week we had great fun at our whole school breakfast on Friday 26th of January.

Look what we had for breakfast!

Local producers provided some of their products to be sampled and gave us cereals, bread, sausages, milk, orange juice and eggs. We had toast and porridge too.

In the afternoon we had a Farmer's Market

Ross Boston from The Green Shop in Bridge Street explained all about Fair Trade and why it is important.

Nick Davidson and Jonny Suthren from Silvery Tweed Cereals brought some delicious samples for us to try and showed us how they produce cereals.
Sarah MacPherson from Well Hung and Tender gave us sausages and brought information on their meat.
